Thermo Fisher Scientific

Product Name:

Magnetic Stand-96

Catalog Number:

AM10027

The magnetic stand 96 is a paramagnetic bead precipitation used during preparation of DNA libraries for whole genome sequencing by Illumina. It is ideal for increasing throughput using samples in 96 well microplate. Separation is as quick as 30 seconds.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Whole genome DNA library preparation

Starting Material

NEBNext adapter ligated bacterial genomic DNA

Protocol Overview

NEB next adapter ligated bacterial genomic DNA samples were mixed with Agencourt magnetic bead solution. Then they were mixed well by pipetting up and down without introducing air bubbles in the wells of 96 well microplate. Then the microplate was allowed to stand on Magnetic stand-96. Beads were separated in 30 seconds. Beads containing desired DNA fragments were retained and washed twice with 70% ethanol and finally resuspended in nuclease free water.

Tips

Avoid introducing air bubbles while mixing samples with buffer. Never clean magnetic stand 96 with ethanol, otherwise it will crack.

Results Summary

Magnetic stand 96 will increase throughput of DNA library prep and magnetic bead based separation of desired DNA fragments both manually or automatic pipeline.

Features Summary

Ideal tool for magnetic bead based separation of DNA fragments of desired length during DNA library prep protocol

Summary

The Good

Increase throughput and easy to handle.

The Bad

Cleaning with ethanol not recommended as it will crack since its base is made with polyacrylic material.

The Bottom Line

Ideal tool to have in sequencing lab.
