Product Name:

Recombinant Rat CCL2/JE/MCP-1 protein, CF

Catalog Number:

3144-JE-025/CF

Rat aortic smooth muscle cells (RASMCs) were treated with MCP-1 at 50 ng/ml concentration and the migration of RASMCs were measured as a percentage of wound closure.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Cell migration assay

Starting Material

Rat aortic smooth muscle cells

Protocol Overview

RASMCs were seeded in an IBIDI chambers and after 1-2 days when the cells are nearly confluent, cells were quiesced and before treating with rat MCP-1, the inserts were removed and the cell migration was measured after 24 hrs and the measured as a percent of wound closure.

Tips

The effects may be very minimal if the cells are old. I got good results when I use the cells just between 3-5 passages after retrieving the cells from liq. N2.

Summary

The Good

Good agonist to study cell migration mechanisms.

The Bad

Needs optimization with the concentrations and the time.

The Bottom Line

Very good chemotactic agent to understand the mechanisms of cell migration and the cell signaling pathways.
