The aim of our research is the development of novel imaging agents. We use a microcentrigue all of the time for spinning down protein samples at 4 degree Celcius, concentrating imaging agent samples, among other things. We are a big fan of Eppendorf, so we normally choose their products when possible.

Protocol Overview

Place the microcentrifuge tube into the microcentrifuge. Use the know to set the time and speed. The temperature buttons (in the middle) allow you to set the temperature before using the instrument. Also, we use the button called short very often (to quickly spin down samples). As long as you hold the short button, it will spin.

Be careful with the door as it has gotten stuck a few times.

Results Summary

The instrument has always worked as expected and there have been no maintenance problems.

Summary

The Good

Reliable and durable system, Short button, Simple to use

The Bad

Cost (expensive)

The Bottom Line

This is a great microcentrifuge for labs that will be using one a lot. I am not sure if it would be worth the money to get such a nice one if a lab only uses once or twice a week.
