In our lab, we focus on the development of new agents for imaging cancer. To do this, we must measure out the necessary reagents for chemical synthesis and labeling procedures. We use this balance for measuring small amounts of various materials (e.g. chelators, dyes, etc.), usually in the 1 mg range. We chose this balance because Mettler Toledo offers excellent customer service and the company is well known for balances.
Measuring chemicals
Various chemicals (e.g. chelators, dyes, proteins, etc.)
We close the doors and zero the balance. This balance has manual doors, so we open the door and measure the necessary amount of compound needed.
Make sure to close the door or the measurement will continue to fluctuate.
The balance is great and we have had no problems with it. If possible, we would recommend that labs get the automatic doors if possible as it really helps out when you are wearing dirty gloves.
The instrument has an excellent display that makes it simple to use.
