MC-12 High Speed Microcentrifuge

Catalog Number:

C1612

I needed an affordable high speed microcentrifuge for a new lab. Units with built-in refrigeration cost a few thousand dollars. This unit is small enough to fit inside a refrigerator and fast enough (16100xg) for most protocols.

Protocol Overview

The microcentrifuge is simple to use with a digital display of the g or rpm and time. Up to 12 tubes can be loaded.

Tips

Place inside your lab refrigerator for a sub $1000 4C microcentrifuge

Results Summary

I've used this to carry out various molecular biology protocols. The small size and particularly the low profile is perfect for the refrigerator.

The Bottom Line

I love this little centrifuge. Even if you have the funds for built-in refrigeration, this is still a valid option since it stays cold all the time. That means no cool down, no condensation, no energy waste (refrigerator is on anyway to cool other things).
