Calbiochem has a very reliable line of ELISA kits for rodents. Their Estradiol (E2) is designed to assay the most potent of the circulating estrogens. Any researcher assessing sex-dependent effects, or age-dependent effects in females, might consider investing in one of these 96 well assay kits. The standards included bridge a range of physiological concentrations, and all necessary reagents are included. A decent plate reader, pipetting supplies, and other common lab equipment are all that is otherwise required. Strong intra-test reliability (i.e. the same sample run on different plates at different times) is a hallmark of good stable ELISA kits, and this E2 kit shines in that regard.
