We generally use DnaK protein levels as a cytosolic control for Western blotting. This allows us to determine if general protein levels are expressed evenly between different samples. The samples are also normalized to OD600.

We always received clear and crisp bands with protein samples. It works well as an antibody control for Salmonella enterica. With high concentration samples, a very small second band can be seen a few kDa below the main band.
