Company:

Eppendorf

Product Name:

Centrifuge 5415 R, with rotor

Catalog Number:

022621431

A centrifuge is an integral part of any molecular biology lab. And we have a few of them, mostly from Eppendorf. This refrigerated centrifuge is the one which we use the most for centrifugation at 4 degree during plasmid preparation, phenol:chloroform extraction, RNA preparation or simply for pelleting the cells.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

RNA prepration

Starting Material

MCF-7 and HeLa cells transfected with siRNAs (4 samples)

Protocol Overview

MCF-7 and HeLa cells were transfected with siRNAs against p53 to knockdown the expression. Knockdown was to be confirmed by quantitative PCR and immunoblot.

Tips

Always balance the tubes while performing centrifugation !!!!

Results Summary

I used the 5415R during various steps in RNA preparation which was used to confirm the knockdown after cDNA synthesis.

Features Summary

Easy to use knobs and the machine reaches 4 degree in minimum time. Minimal sound during operation.

Summary

The Good

Knobs for easy operation, effective "Fast temp" operation, high RCF value (16.1K), minimal sound while operating, occupies little space on bench, aerosol tight rotor to reduce contamination

The Bad

None

The Bottom Line

Eppendorf is one of the best manufacturers of centrifugation devices and I have always loved using their centrifuge machines.
