Biosurveillance in Wastewater—Focus on the Detection of Pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2

Accurate detection of wastewater pathogens is imperative as they are a major threat to public health. A new workflow that has been developed to optimize the PCR-based detection of human pathogens and biomarkers in wastewater will be covered in detail in this webinar.

The Analytik Jena Workflow for SARS-CoV-2 detection in wastewater is a powerful process for wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). It uses high performance nucleic acid extraction and purification technologies and gold standard molecular detection techniques. Due to its modular design, the process can be adapted for other sample types (e.g., tap water, solid samples) and is scalable from single sample measurement up to 96+ sample processing at different automation levels. The real-time PCR detection system can be adapted to any target without changing instrumentation. As an open system, it can be used with a variety of PCR kits and consumables without limitation.
