Description
Product Characteristics:
Binds to the Fc region of immunoglobulins gamma. Low affinity receptor. By binding to IgG it initiates cellular responses against pathogens and soluble antigens. Promotes phagocytosis of opsonized antigens.
Subcellular location: Cell membrane
Synonyms: CD32, FCG2, FcGR, CD32A, CDw32, FCGR2, IGFR2, FCGR2A1, Low affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc region receptor II-a, IgG Fc receptor II-a, Fc-gamma RII-a, Fc-gamma-RIIa, FcRII-a, FCGR2A
Target Information: The protein encoded by this gene is a low affinity receptor for the Fc region of immunoglobulin gamma complexes. The encoded protein is involved in the phagocytosis of immune complexes and in the regulation of antibody production by B-cells. Variations in this gene may increase susceptibilty to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
