 Small Chips, Big Help
Feb 20 '07
Sample analyses that used to require pouring, running and staining a slab gel can now be run on a chip that fits easily in the palm of your hand. These “labs on a chip” utilize microfluidics technology to electrophorese samples through microchannels. Loading volumes and amounts are small, allowing you to save precious sample for other applications. Run times are generally 30 minutes or less, and data is captured digitally, thus also eliminating the need for post-run image capture. Results can be quickly analyzed for quantification, size determination and/or assessment of sample integrity. Whether you are interested in taking advantage of this technology for separation and analysis of DNA, RNA, protein and/or cells, one of the systems below can help you generate quality data in less time, with less sample and far less hassle than traditional electrophoresis.
