From spotting to detection, there’s a lot to consider in any protein microarray experiment. There are a few fundamental decisions you’ll want to make at the outset: Will you spot your own arrays or purchase arrays? What type of throughput and detection are you looking for? Whatever your answers to these questions, one of the protein micrarraying kits below can help you get from protein spot to data point. Kits from GenTel and Whatman provide all of the reagents you need to both spot and process your protein microarrays. If you’re looking for a pre-spotted array, Invitrogen’s ProtoArray™ offers 3000 human proteins arrayed in duplicate. Each of these kits utilizes arrays on glass slides for maximal throughput. In addition to higher throughput, slides offer the advantage of fluorescent detection which generally offers the highest sensitivity and resolution. Reading fluorescently labeled microarrays, however, requires a microarray scanner. If you don’t need to screen quite so many proteins, check out KPL’s Dot Blot Kits which offer reagents optimized for detection of 96 or 384 spot dot blots. The blots can be visualized directly (colorimetric detection) or via film (chemiluminescent detection). So peruse the kits below and find the one that suits your proteins and your needs.
