Phage display is a method by which a peptide or protein is expressed as a fusion with a coat protein of a phage, such as M13 or T7. These expressed peptides/proteins can then be screened for interaction with antibodies or other proteins. To create a library of phage-expressed proteins, you must first clone your cDNA into the phage DNA. To help make sure you get a good representation of your cDNA efficiently cloned, take advantage of one of the kits below. For expression of large proteins, you’ll want to consider the Novagen system. For expression of short peptides, however, take a look at the system from New England Biolabs. Both systems will result in a library of peptides or proteins displayed for subsequent screening and identification.
