The protein, with a mass of 10.8 kDa and length of 93 residues, is reported to be cytoplasmic, membrane-associated and secreted. It is a member of the S-100 family and may be known by other names, including: urinary stone protein band A, migration inhibitory factor-related protein 8, cystic fibrosis antigen, calprotectin L1L subunit, calgranulin A, and protein S100-A8, and CFAG.
