B55BETA is an alias of the human PPP2R2B gene, which encodes the protein, protein phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit Bbeta. Notably, B55BETA is known to play a role in the apoptotic pathway, among other functions. The PPP2R2B protein is 443 amino acid residues in length and 51.7 kilodaltons in mass. However, as many as 7 protein isoforms have been identified. It is localized to the mitochondria and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue specificity, it is notably expressed in the brain.
