3-Nitrotyrosine ELISA kits are assays designed to detect the main product of tyrosine oxidation, which is 3-nitrotyrosine. It is formed when tyrosine is nitrated by reactive nitrogen species, through the substitution of a hydrogen with a nitro group in the phenolic ring of the tyrosine residues. It is used as a marker of cell damage and conditions such as diabetes. Increased amounts have been noted in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and septic shock. 3-nitrotyrosine can be detected in plasma and urine. Visit the supplier page for more information about detection range and reactivity.
