Functionally, this protein is known to be involved in autophagy pathways. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid sequence of 621 residues and a mass of 70.1 kDa. It is known to be localized in the nucleus, mitochondria, and cytoplasm and is found to be expressed in heart, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas, and placenta, but not in skeletal muscle. The FBXL4 gene has been associated with the disease, Mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome. Other alias names for this target include FBL5, MTDPS13, F-box/LRR-repeat protein 4, and FBL4.
