XAPC7 is an alternative name for the human PSMA7 gene, which encodes the protein, proteasome 20S subunit alpha 7. The target protein is a known component of the 20S core proteasome complex involved in the proteolytic degradation of most intracellular proteins. Structurally, the PSMA7 protein is 248 amino acid residues in length and 27.9 kilodaltons in mass. However, as many as 3 protein isoforms have been identified. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell. This protein is known to be phosphorylated and glycosylated. Other names for this target antigen include C6, HEL-S-276, and HSPC.
