WASHC5 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein WASH complex subunit 5, which is encoded by the WASHC5 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to act as a component of the WASH core complex that functions as a nucleation-promoting factor (NPF) at the surface of endosomes, where it recruits and activates the Arp2/3 complex to induce actin polymerization, playing a key role in the fission of tubules that serve as transport intermediates during endosome sorting. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 1159 residues, a mass of 134.3 kDa, and is a member of the Strumpellin protein family. It is known to be localized in the ER and cytoplasm and is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. The WASHC5 gene has been associated with the disease, Spastic paraplegia.
