It is known to be localized in the nucleus, mitochondria, and cytoplasm and is widely expressed across many tissues, with highest levels in heart and skeletal muscle. As many as 4 protein isoforms have been reported. The WDR26 gene has been associated with the disease, Skraban-Deardorff syndrome.
