Functionally, this protein is known to accept ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 183 residues, a mass of 20.7 kDa, and is a member of the Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme protein family. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally ubiquitinated. Other alias names for this target include GID3, UBC8, UBCH, UBCH2, (E3-independent) E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme H, and E2-20K.
