Anti-HAOX2 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the HAOX2 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the HAO2 gene, which encodes hydroxyacid oxidase 2. This protein is a reported oxidase that catalyzes the oxidation of medium and long chain hydroxyacids such as 2-hydroxyhexadecanoate and 2-hydroxyoctanoate, to the correspondong 2-oxoacids. The human version of HAOX2 has a canonical amino acid length of 351 residues and a protein mass of 38.8 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the peroxisomes of cells. This target antigen may also be known as GIG16.
