Anti-GPIIIa antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the GPIIIa antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the ITGB3 gene, which encodes integrin subunit beta 3. This protein is known to function in the apoptotic pathway and cell adhesion, among other biological roles. The human version of GPIIIa has a canonical amino acid length of 788 residues and a protein mass of 87.1 kilodaltons, although 3 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane of cells and notably expressed in the bone marrow. Other names for this target antigen include BDPLT16, BDPLT2, and BDPLT24. Some GPIIIa antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunohistochemistry is also a common application.
