Anti-CYP26 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CYP26 is a known alias name of the protein cytochrome P450 family 26 subfamily A member 1, encoded by the CYP26A1 gene in humans. This 497-amino acid residue protein is a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase involved in the metabolism of all-trans retinoic acid (atRA), a signaling molecule that binds to retinoic acid receptors and regulates gene transcription. It is localized to the ER of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in most fetal and adult tissues with highest levels in adult liver, heart, pituitary gland, adrenal gland, placenta and regions of the brain. Other synonyms for CYP26 include CP26 and P450RAI. Western Blot is the most common application for the CYP26 antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
