Anti-COX20 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein cytochrome c oxidase assembly factor COX20. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 118 amino acid residues and a mass of 13.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the caudate, tonsil, and appendix. A member of the COX20 protein family, COX20 is known to be important for the assembly of the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex IV (CIV), also known as cytochrome c oxidase. The COX20 gene has been associated with the disease, Mitochondrial complex IV deficiency. Synonyms for this target antigen include COX20 Cox2 chaperone homolog, COX20, cytochrome c oxidase assembly factor, cytochrome c oxidase protein 20 homolog, and cytochrome c oxidase assembly protein COX20, mitochondrial. COX20 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
