Anti-CYP11A antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CYP11A is a known alias name of the protein cytochrome P450 family 11 subfamily A member 1, encoded by the CYP11A1 gene in humans. This 521-amino acid residue protein is a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase that catalyzes the side-chain hydroxylation and cleavage of cholesterol to pregnenolone, the precursor of most steroid hormones. It is localized to the mitochondria of the cell. It is reported to be expressed in the testis, placenta, and adrenal gland. The term CYPXIA1 is another synonym for CYP11A. Western Blot is the most common application for the CYP11A antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
