Anti-ERC-55 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the ERC-55 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the RCN2 gene, which encodes reticulocalbin 2. The human version of ERC-55 has a canonical amino acid length of 317 residues and a protein mass of 36.9 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the ER of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the caudate and cerebellum. ERC-55 is a member of the CREC protein family.
