Anti-COX8-3 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the COX8-3 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the COX8C gene, which encodes cytochrome c oxidase subunit 8C. This protein is known to function in electron transport, among other biological roles. The human version of COX8-3 has a canonical amino acid length of 72 residues and a protein mass of 8.1 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the mitochondria of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the endometrium and kidney. COX8-3 is a member of the Cytochrome c oxidase VIII protein family.
