Anti-ALS1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target ALS1 is a known alias name of the protein superoxide dismutase 1, encoded by the SOD1 gene in humans. This 154-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a destroys radicals, which are normally produced within the cells and which are toxic to biological systems. It is localized to the nucleus, mitochondria, and cytoplasm of the cell and features ubiquitinated and palmitoylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. Other synonyms for ALS1 include ALS and HEL-S-44. Over 100 citations in the literature describe the use of ALS1 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
