Anti-PMKA antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target PMKA is a known alias name of the protein phosphomevalonate kinase, encoded by the PMVK gene in humans. This 192-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the reversible ATP-dependent phosphorylation of mevalonate 5-phosphate to produce mevalonate diphosphate and ADP, a key step in the mevalonic acid mediated biosynthesis of isopentenyl diphosphate and other polyisoprenoid metabolites. It is localized to the cytoplasm of the cell. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. Other synonyms for PMKA include HUMPMKI and PMK. Indicated applications for PMKA antibodies listed below include ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry.
