Anti-M83 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the M83 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the PGAP6 gene, which encodes post-GPI attachment to proteins 6. This protein is known to function in the metabolism of lipids, among other biological roles. The human version of M83 has a canonical amino acid length of 771 residues and a protein mass of 84.8 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the lysosomes and cell membrane of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. M83 is a member of the TMEM8 protein family.
