Anti-SLC25A4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein solute carrier family 25 member 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 298 amino acid residues and a mass of 33.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. It is reported to be expressed in erythrocytes. A member of the Mitochondrial carrier (TC 2.A.29) protein family, SLC25A4 is reported to be an ADP:ATP antiporter that mediates import of ADP into the mitochondrial matrix for ATP synthesis, and export of ATP out to fuel the cell. The SLC25A4 gene has been associated with the disease, Progressive external ophthalmoplegia with mitochondrial DNA deletions. Synonyms for this target antigen include ANT, ANT 1, ANT1, MTDPS12, MTDPS12A, PEO2, PEO3, and AAC1. SLC25A4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 60 citations in the literature describe the use of SLC25A4 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
