Anti-neutrophil elastase antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The neutrophil elastase antigen is another term for the human protein elastase, neutrophil expressed, encoded by the ELANE gene. The protein is known to function in the regulation of intracellular calcium, among other biological roles. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 267 residues and a mass of 28.5 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasmic vesicles and it is expressed in the bone marrow. The neutrophil elastase protein is a member of the Peptidase S1 protein family. Other alias names for neutrophil elastase include ELA2, ELA2, and GE.
