Anti-beta-globin antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The beta-globin antigen is another term for the human protein hemoglobin subunit beta, encoded by the HBB gene. The protein is known to be involved in oxygen transport from the lung to the various peripheral tissues. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 147 residues and a mass of 16 kilodaltons. It is expressed in the placenta, lung, and bone marrow. The beta-globin protein is a member of the Globin protein family. Other alias names for beta-globin include CD113t-C, ECYT6, and beta-globin. ELISA and Western Blot are common applications for beta-globin antibodies.
