Anti-EAAT1 antibodies detect the protein encoded by the gene SLC1A3, or 'solute carrier family 1 member 3' in humans. The 542-amino acid protein is a member of the Dicarboxylate/amino acid:cation symporter (DAACS) (TC 2.A.23) family, SLC1A3 subfamily and is a documented astrocyte marker. The cellular localization is predicted to be membrane-associated.
