Anti-CES5A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein carboxylesterase 5A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 575 amino acid residues and a mass of 63.9 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Type-B carboxylesterase/lipase protein family, CES5A is reported to be involved in detoxification of xenobiotics and in the activation of ester and amide prodrugs. Post-translational modifications have been described, including N-glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include carboxylesterase 7, carboxylesterase-like urinary excreted protein homolog, epididymis luminal protein 126, and carboxylesterase 5. CES5A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Western Blot is the most common application for the CES5A antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
