Anti-CST11 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein cystatin 11. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 138 amino acid residues and a mass of 16.5 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the epithelium and lumen of the epididymis, and in sperm. A member of the Cystatin protein family, CST11 is known to have antibacterial activity against the Gram-negative bacteria E.coli. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include cystatin-related epididymal-specific protein, epididymis secretory sperm binding protein, and SC13delta. CST11 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Western Blot is a widely used application for the CST11 antibodies listed below. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
