Anti-Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene TPO in humans. The thyroid peroxidase protein has an expected mass of 103 kDa, but there are 8 reported isoforms. The protein may also be known as MSA, TDH2A, TPX, thyroid microsomal antigen, and thyroperoxidase. Variants of this antigen may also be found in other species, including canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat. Antibodies to the Thyroid peroxidase antigen may be useful for studying growth factor signaling.
