Anti-CAPRIN2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein caprin family member 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1127 amino acid residues and a mass of 125.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 9 different isoforms for this protein. It is notably expressed in all tissues tested with highest levels of expression in the brain and spleen. A member of a the Caprin protein family, CAPRIN2 is reported to promote phosphorylation of the Wnt coreceptor LRP6, leading to increased activity of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway. Synonyms for this target antigen include RNA granule protein 140, cytoplasmic activation/proliferation-associated protein 2, gastric cancer multidrug resistance-associated protein, and C1q domain-containing protein 1.
