Anti-CAPN5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein calpain 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 640 amino acid residues and a mass of 73.2 kDa. It is reported to be expressed in many tissues. A member of the Peptidase C2 protein family, CAPN5 is known to be involved with proteolysis and signal transduction pathways. The CAPN5 gene has been associated with the disease, Vitreoretinopathy. Synonyms for this target antigen include HTRA3, VRNI, nCL-3, calpain htra-3, new calpain 3, testis tissue sperm-binding protein Li 91mP, and ADNIV. CAPN5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of CAPN5 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunohistochemistry is also a common application.
