Anti-DEFB118 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein defensin beta 118. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 123 amino acid residues and a mass of 13.6 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is reported to have high-level and epididymis-specific expression. A member of the Beta-defensin protein family, DEFB118 is known to be involved with cell matrix adhesion and innate immune responses. Synonyms for this target antigen include epididymal secretory protein 13.6, epididymis secretory sperm binding protein, epididymus specific clone 42, and defensin, beta 18. DEFB118 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat and chimpanzee species. These DEFB118 antibodies are widely used in Immunohistochemistry experiments, among other applications.
