Anti-Glycyl-tRNA synthetase antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene GARS in humans. The gene may also be known as CMT2D, DSMAV, GlyRS, HMN5, glycine--tRNA ligase, and AP-4-A synthetase. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 83.2 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, yeast, plant, fly, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
