Anti-PFDN5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein prefoldin subunit 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 154 amino acid residues and a mass of 17.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be highly expressed in the pancreas and skeletal muscle and moderately in other tissues. A member of the Prefoldin subunit alpha protein family, Pfdn5 is known to bind specifically to cytosolic chaperonin (c-CPN) and transfers target proteins to it. Synonyms for this target antigen include MM-1 and MM1. PFDN5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of Pfdn5 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
