Anti-S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the AHCY gene, which encodes adenosylhomocysteinase. This protein is known to function in metabolic processes, among other biological roles. The human version of S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase has a canonical amino acid length of 432 residues and a protein mass of 47.7 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include SAHH, adoHcyase, and S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine hydrolase. Some S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. These antibodies are most commonly used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
