Anti-Ia2 antibodies detect the protein encoded by the gene PTPRN, or 'protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type N' in humans. The 979-amino acid protein is a member of the Protein-tyrosine phosphatase family, Receptor class 8 subfamily. The cellular localization is predicted to be nuclear and membrane-associated. Glycosylation sites have been reported.
