Anti-PERLECAN antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the PERLECAN antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the HSPG2 gene, which encodes heparan sulfate proteoglycan 2. This protein is known to function in angiogenesis and brain development, among other biological roles. The human version of PERLECAN has a canonical amino acid length of 4391 residues and a protein mass of 468.8 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the extracellular matrix and is secreted of cells and notably expressed in the colon and heart muscle.
