Anti-PR/SET domain 6 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the PRDM6 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 595 amino acid residues and a mass of 64.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Class V-like SAM-binding methyltransferase protein superfamily, it is known to be involved with chromatin organization and the regulation of cell differentiation. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Patent ductus arteriosus. Other names for this target antigen include PR domain 6, PR domain containing 6, PR domain-containing protein 6, PR-domain zinc finger protein 6, and putative histone-lysine N-methyltransferase PRDM6. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. These PR/SET domain 6 antibodies are widely used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
