Anti-TMPRSS5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein transmembrane serine protease 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 457 amino acid residues and a mass of 49.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. It is reported to have brain-specific expression. A member of the Peptidase S1 protein family, TMPRSS5 is believed to play a role in hearing. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include transmembrane protease serine 5 and transmembrane protease, serine 5. TMPRSS5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some TMPRSS5 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
