Anti-INSYN2A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein inhibitory synaptic factor 2A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 479 amino acid residues and a mass of 52.9 kDa. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the INSYN2 protein family, INSYN2A is a known component of the protein machinery at the inhibitory synapses, probably acting as a scaffold. Synonyms for this target antigen include inhibitory synaptic protein 2, protein FAM196A, and family with sequence similarity 196 member A. INSYN2A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
