Anti-ARR3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein arrestin 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 388 amino acid residues and a mass of 42.8 kDa. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the retina. A member of the Arrestin protein family, ARR3 is believed to play a role in an as yet undefined retina-specific signal transduction. The ARR3 marker can be used to identify Retinal Cone Cells.* Synonyms for this target antigen include MYP26, cArr, arrestin-C, C-arrestin, arrestin 3 retinal (X-arrestin), arrestin 4, retinal cone arrestin-3, and ARRX. ARR3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog and chicken species.
